Gokyo Valley Trek is a traditional trip that offers magnificent Everest views and the picturesque serenity offered by the mountain lake scenery. Gokyo Valley trek offers a closer view of Mount Everest, ice falls from the largest glaciers and numerous breathtaking views. Gokyo Peak allows the panoramic view of peaks like Mt. Cho-Oyo, Mt. Everest, Makalu, and Mt. Lhotse. The trek also provides a view of remote monasteries which gives insight into local Tibetan and Nepali culture. One of the most significant features of this trek is the view of the marvellous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung which is located in the Khumbu region.
The trek begins by taking a thirty-five-minute flight from Kathmandu. Approaching Lukla’s airfield actually begins the adventure. The next few days of trekking are spent through the adventurous trek and interaction with the local sherpas from the Himalayan region. Then the trek will pass through Buddhist monasteries with scenic views of Everest and other marvellous mountains.
The trekking to the Gokyo valley is the most amazing as it provides the closest view to the Everest base camp and also to the view of other various mountains. It is an alternative route and an easy supplement to the traditional trails for Everest base camp. Gokyo Ri is one of the exceptional places to view Mt. Everest. Along with such views of mountains, Gokyo Valley Trek also gives the enjoyment of getting blended with different cultures and traditions of the indigenous community of Sherpa living in the high land of such remote mountains.
Gokyo Valley Trek ~ Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Kathmandu Airport
Somebody sowing to your name lest next to Taxi line when you out from exit hall. Look at your name then drive to your hotel Thamel. Look around Thamel & buy the trekking equipment. Today easy day to meet with your trekking guide and then interdiction. The guide will let you know which time we need to go airport. Make ready your backpack which you bring to the mountain, a Useless thing to leave behind in a hotel. Mention that before heading to bed tell the hotel staff to make a ready to your breakfast the next day morning.
Day 2
Take flight to Lukla from Kathmandu, and trek to Phakdaing.
We will take a flight from Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu for 35 minutes to Tenzing and Hillary Airport at Lukla (2,804m). After landing, we begin our trek by descending towards the Dudh Kosi River where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, located just above Chaunrikharka (2,713m) and will take a short to Phakding. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 3
Trek to Namche Bazaar and take rest for entire day.
We continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi, crossing the majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags.
Day 4
Trek to Dole.
Following the trails, we make our descent to Dole. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 5
Trek to Macchermo.
We will follow our trek to Machermo (4,480m/14,246 ft) walking for 4:30 hours. Overnight at guest house.
Day 6
Trek to Gokyo.
Trek 5 hours to Gokyo (4,770 miles), exploring around the glacier. Overnight at lodge.
Day 7
Trek to Gokyo - Ri and return back To Gokyo.
Today we will take an early morning Day Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5,316m) to see sunrise view and will return back to Gokyo which takes approximately 4 hr.
Day 8
Trek to Phortse.
Trek to down Dole (4,110m), approximately 5 hr. and then to Phortse. Overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Day 9
Trek back to Namche.
Trek back down to Namche Bazaar which takes approximately 5 hr. overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Day 10
Return to Lukla and rest.
Trek to down Phakding (2,680m) and then to Lukla (2,880m), approximately 3 hr. overnight stay at tea house lodge.
Day 11
Fly Back to Kathmandu.
Early morning take a domestic flight from lukla to Kathmandu then visit Kathmandu sightseeing which the Nepal Royal Tourism Holiday will arrange then stay overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 12
Final Departure
We will arrange airport transport for you at your airport time.
